Unseen Adversary in Vault The House Mystery
Jameson and Somers battle a silent foe in the dark vaults beneath the house. A narrow trapdoor yields to a desperate climb as Barr and constables storm the wall. Carrick’s escape, a hidden trove, and a rusted iron ring hint at a Brodhurst gem plot amid peril and pursuit.

Sheep Without Wool Shocks Australian Farmers
Mr H J Moneton spoke at the Cooma Agricultural Bureau Conference about sheep in British Guiana in tropical conditions where sheep grow no wool except a tuft. The animals are kept for mutton as wool growth stops, and the country lies well below sea level with the woolless fleece idea reportedly unusual to Australian readers.

Second Offence Failing to Destroy Noxious Weeds
The court fined Victor Drabeck £3 for a second offence of failing to destroy noxious weeds on a 60 acre property despite his defense that his occupancy and other factors affected his efforts. The Jemmalong Shire Council, represented by C. T. Broderick, noted the 350 acre area infested with Bathurst burrs and related issues. Drabeck stated he would rake and burn the weeds if given further control, and was ordered to pay £2 1/0 in professional costs and £8 in court costs.

Effects of headlight glare and driving danger
An American expert committee report notes headlamps lag behind vehicle improvements. Glare contracts the iris in a sixteenth of a second, but normal vision returns only after nine times that, leaving a driver blind for about one second. At 40 mph this blind period equals 313 feet of potential loss of control, increasing braking and reaction risks.
