The council heard an Electrical Engineer report on construction delays due to tire hole stoker and steel shortages. It notes supply proposals for hole sinkers, transformer needs for irrigation, and two way communication to improve rural service.
The Jemalong Shire Council met with Clerk F M Copeland presenting fund balances and accounts for approval under the Finente Committee approval. Receipts for the period totaled ERG 11 with rates and interest, and action on outstanding rates was recommended for the committee.
The health inspector reported no infectious disease outbreaks for the month, only scarlet fever this year. The council discussed water fluoridation, telephone breakdowns, sewerage works, land leases, and municipal projects including paving, park improvements, and electrical upgrades with plans to seek government grants and advertise land for public use.
In his report the gas manager stated that one purifier lid has been renewed with satisfactory results and the other will be renewed soon. The work requires closing the plant for about 12 hours but should cause no inconvenience to consumers. Distribution system notes limited work on Union Streets to serve six customers.
