Notes on a Fairly Busy Totalisator Race Day

The totalisator run by Mr Ledeg with Mesara Gilchrist and Gale saw two investors on Helensworth. In the last race the mare paid 9/6 for second, with a win near for 15/12. A fourth race protest over a dead heat between Paddy Moore and Daley Marron led to a walkover after one horse was found lame. Backers faced adjusted bets as per race rules. Paddy Moore appeared unstarted, while Dalay Mar claimed a walk over. Sam Essler attended, and a circulating tale of a late honeymoon visit proved false.
