Ron Marshall of the 2/18 Battalion later in Moree recounts being captured near Bukit Timah during the fierce hand to hand fighting on Singapore Island. He endured bayoneting wounds and a brutal execution sequence before being rescued by a comrade. His escape followed days of dire conditions and rationing before hospital care.
