No 3 Building Society Formed at Forbes

A well attended Forbes meeting discussed the formation of No 3 Building Society. Finances were pledged, shares to be raised and two delegates chosen to liaise with Wheat Defences and Commonwealth Bank. Officers were elected, including reelection of founder president and appointment of vice presidents, secretary and treasurer, with minor general business on transport minister communications and highway concerns.

Redistribution plans hint at new rural seats in Australia

The commission proposes five or six new rural seats while city seats rise more. Maps and boundary explanations will be published September 2. NSW would gain 47 seats, Victoria 19, Queensland 18, SA 10, Western Australia 5, with Canberra governed separately. Canvassed maps await public objection and Parliament may adopt or reject the plan.

Wheat stacks in country urged for motor transport to seaboard

Farmers in Forbes district push to move all stored wheat by motor vehicle to the seaboard to curb rat damage, warning losses could exceed per bushel. A committee was appointed to inspect districts south of Forbes and secure photos of attacks, and Government action to maintain a ticked wheel to Sydney was requested.

Resumption at Forbes Pastoral Leases Near Forbes

In the Legislative Council on Thursday Minister of Juste Mr J B Downing outlined resumption plans for part of Jemalong Estate near Forbes, owned by New South Wales Pastoral Company Ltd. The proposal covers about 4,000 acres. This follows the making available of cadow for returned soldier settlement.

Transport of Wheat to Coast and Silo Plans

The Minister for Agriculture Mr. Grahem announced at the Farmers and Getler Association conference in Sydney that a coal allotment should be made to move Insteresen's wheat to the coast. Silos built to 34,000,000 bushels have handled just over 6,000,000 bushels and could be expanded to hold large stores of bagged wheat. If filled, they would be ready for the harvest by Movember, with further alloy planned to handle up to 80,000,000 bushels.
