Our column invites thousands to Floresville for the 19th annual Peanut Festival this Friday and Saturday. The piece promises a warm welcome to visitors and notes Governor John Connally will lead Saturday’s parade, with fuller coverage in the next issue.

Governor Connally proclaims Peanut Week in Texas highlighting the state as a major peanut producer. The notice calls attention to the Floresville Peanut Festival scheduled for September 27 and 28, noting peanuts grown in about 140 counties and an annual crop value around 25 million dollars.

The Wilson County ASCS Office reports the area has been declared a disaster area due to severe drought and is eligible for Emergency Livestock Feed. Details are not yet available but multiple counties share the designation and related aid actions are anticipated.
Miss Landis Talley daughter of Mr and Mrs Canell Talley Senior at Floresville High was elected FFA Sweetheart. She notes pride in the honor and thanks FFA members and boys. The document also outlines county ASC feed program details with steps, prices, and signup times for September 1963.
Parade route for the festival starts at Bauman's Store on C Street at 10 00 A M. It proceeds past the Courthouse and Ford Motor Company to White Auto and Merchant's Grocery before reaching Public Services Company and the Bank. Floresville’s new $90,000 sewerage disposal plant is now in operation after completion weeks ago. It will meet city needs for 25 years or more and is among the most modern in the region. Supt. Tom Johnson of the Water and Sewerage Department notes it was financed by a revenue bond issue and federal funds.
A historical note lists past presidents of the Peanut Festival with names such as J. T. Sheehy Hal Warren Leon Kreidel Zane Lawhon Merrill Connally Ac Richardson Douglas Burris Joe Donaho and others, concluding with the 1962 president.
Mayor F Woolsey of Hatesville announces a coordinating committee to work with the San Antonio River Authority on the Cibolo project. Members include Robert Spruce Harry Woolsey J Turner Joe Fietsam. The U S Bureau of Reclamation is to complete a feasibility report by May 1 1964. Plans envision a 4 mile dam between Stockdale and Floresville creating a lake 10 miles long and two wide.
