Floresville will establish a two person district police unit by mid October with a chief and one officer. The plan allocates salaries of 34 457 for the chief and 27 310 for the officer plus benefits, for 212 and 200 workdays respectively.
Wilson County will collect 5,542,392 in tax revenue under a lowered rate of 0.4159, up 93,283 from last year’s 5,417,461 while growth boosts appraisal values. County officials say increased revenue comes from higher property values, not a higher tax rate.
Floresville school district runs a Floresville summer youth program co sponsored by the city and Floresville Electric Company. Participation rose over 41 percent this year while funds in the new council budget are withheld until the $3,700 city contribution is deemed well spent. The council split over funding next summer's camps as the program offers athletic activities under coach guidance.
Wilson County Hospital District adopts an effective tax rate of .1408, lowering the rate by 2.1 percent while boosting tax revenue by about $78,000. The new rate, the highest allowed without a public hearing under Truth in Taxation, aims to fund charity care and a debt coverage shortfall of $1,033,650. The average homeowner saves about $3, with the district collecting roughly $1.8 million from Wilson County taxpayers.
Floresville district teachers received training on Gateway Tablets that project onto screens and use special pens for on screen writing. The devices, described as more than laptops, will be distributed to all district teachers.
