Sacred Heart School invites the public to its annual Fall Festival at Sacred Heart Parish grounds this Sunday September 17 1978 starting 11 30 a m. A noon barbecue beef meal with trimmings tea and dessert plus other foods will be available. The event features games entertainment and a White Elephant Sale with bargains for shoppers and families.
Residents of Wilson County are invited to a Community Involvement Workshop at the County Courthouse on Monday September 18 at 7 p m The event, sponsored by Camino Real Health Systems Agency, seeks public input for the revised 1979 Health Systems Plan GASP to identify priority health concerns in Health Service Area No 9 The agency notes HSA 9 spans 21 counties from San Antonio to Del Rio and that annual revisions ensure the plan addresses area needs Cancer dental health nutrition mental health ambulatory services emergency medical service and cost are among topics already identified Nine other concerns complete the list Participants will rank about 35 health needs and learn about Camino Real goals Workshops will follow in the other 20 counties served.
B J Harpole is the newly assigned Highway Patrol Sergeant for Wilson and Atascosa counties. He replaces Sgt Homer Smith, transferred to Lampasas. Harpole comes from Gaines ville to Wilson County as a ten year DPS veteran, promoted to sergeant. He will reside in Path, Texas with his wife Pam and sons Matt Brian Ty.
At the 33rd International Flying Farmer Convention in Norfolk Virginia Rachel Ray of Floresville Texas was named the 1978 79 Flying Farmerette. The Texas chapter treasurer and a family rooted in aviation she joins a cadre of teen officers including Murry Wilson of Ontario Canada and Kim Hoggarth of North Dakota as the program promotes private aircraft in agri business and youth leadership across the U S Canada and Mexico.
Amy Grace Eschenburg seven year old daughter of Carl and Mrs. Eschenburg was selected by Beverly Bayer Queen Turnep XXXIV to serve as a page in the Court of the Old South. A Floresville Elementary second grader she attends Floresville United Methodist Church and has sisters Ann Mary and Blaine.
Governor Dolph Briscoe approved two Wilson County crime grants under the Crime Control Act of 1976. One funds staff for coordinating criminal and juvenile cases in the 81st and 218th districts, the other supports 1929 regional planning by the Alamo Area Council of Governments. The statewide grants totaled 99.

Patrolman Marvin Quinney suffered painful leg injuries last Friday night while stopping a vehicle on the Seguin highway near Stockdale. A representative of the State Comptroller's Office will visit Floresville on Wednesday September 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the County Commissioners Courtroom to offer information and forms to taxpayers.
