Red Cross mobile unit visited Floresville and Wilson County, collecting 150 pints Wednesday with about a dozen disqualifications for physical condition. Blacksmith Shop At Three Oaks Destroyed By Fire
Fire of undetermined origin at 6 am Sunday destroyed the blacksmith shop of Charley Polasek in the Oaks community. The entire building and machinery were lost with about $4,000 damage. Family members were away. adjoining structures were damaged as the fire spread. Fire department and local volunteers fought the blaze.

Pfc Pete Ramzinski son of Mr and Mrs Victor Ramzinski of Richter near Stockdale was reported wounded in action in France on August 12 by the War Department. A later family letter did not mention wounds. He has served 2 1/2 years, went overseas in October 1943, and is serving in the Medical Corps.

Shaw Completes 50th Mission During World War II
Staff Sgt. M. C. Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shaw of Stockdale Texas, flew his 50th mission in Italy aboard a B 24 Liberator. Since March he has bombed oil refineries harbors rail yards and air fields in Germany Roumania France Yugoslavia and Northern Italy. He is a Stockdale High School 1989 graduate and previously worked as an aircraft engine mechanic at Duncan Field before joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. He has a brother Robert F. Shaw Jr. in the Air Corps.
