Baumann's Grocery & Market in Floresville holds a remodeling sale starting Wednesday September 6. The Floresville store has expanded with a 3300 square foot addition and improved parking and aisles. The Baumann family history includes ownership transfers from 1949 to 1976 and new stores in Floresville Path and La Vernia.
Misty and Chris Greenaway aged 11 and 7, children of Bill and Rebecca, set a 140 hour continuous swinging record for Muscular Dystrophy. They swung from August 29 to September 4 with daytime shifts and night watch, raising $200.00 and aiming for Guinness recognition.
Jason Richardson of Floresville named Crown Bearer for the XXXIV Annual Peanut Festival Coronation. Five year old kindergarten student, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Richardson, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Tatum and Mr. and Mrs. Joe G. Richardson. He enjoys riding his pony Potato Chip, swimming, and building a tree house with his dad. Jason thanks Queen Beverly Bayer for selecting him as Crown Bearer.
five year old Darryl Wade Pfeil is selected as Scepter Bearer in the 1978 Peanut Festival royal court. He is the son of James and Beverly Pfeil of Floresville, grandson of Randolph Pfeil and Ernest Waskow, and great grandson of Alma Goésch. He attends First Lutheran Church and enjoys Sunday School, family farming, and helping with chores.
A community appeal requests blood donations as a Mobile Unit visits Floresville on Thursday September 14 from 1 to 8 p.m. The notice urges people to donate to help the hurt, sick, and dying and to show they care for neighbors and friends.
The Tiger Booster Club starts its 1978 79 membership drive with Henke as treasurer and Leroy Nitschmann as secretary. A meeting is scheduled for Monday the 11th at PM in the school.
An appreciative acknowledgment goes to Alpha Beta Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Wilson County Senior Citizens for helping with the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon. Gratitude is also extended to Barber Ford for facility use and to Yvonne Moseley for management advice.
Poth Brother Lodge and Poth Sister Lodge will hold a Games Party on Sunday September 17 at 2 p.m. at the Hermann Sons Hall for members and their families. Refreshments will be served. You all come. Adela Fisbeck
