Attendance at Floresville School for the fall term begins with a total of 634. Primary grades report 190 pupils and intermediate grades 188, while the high school registers 182 students. The early turnout signals a successful term and a fine spirit among students and staff.
A large Floresville public schools gathering at Floresville High School opened the new year with a record enrollment of 634 students across primary, kindergarten, fourth grade, intermediate, and high school. Community leaders and ex-students praised the spirit and projected a successful year. A Holy Trinity School Club barbecue follows at Falls City with tickets at 30 cents adults and 15 cents children, including games and a dance.
The Poth public school under Superintendent A T Hoelscher opened for the term Monday morning with a record turnout. Attendance reached 135 in grammar and primary and 33 in the high school, as patrons filled the room for opening exercises.
Corpus Christi Independent School District votes unanimously to name the new Wynn Seale Junior High School after E W Seale who died recently in Detroit. Seale was president of Kingsville College of Arts and Industries and the school is funded as part of a PWA loan. The facility will be built in the southern city area and honors his educational work in the region.
Miss Ruth Coulffhran, daughter of Mrs. T B Coughran, married Louis Boisonett of Montreal on August 20, 1934 at the Beeville Methodist parsonage, with Rev. Horton officiating. The bride, raised in Wilson and Atascosa counties, taught in Linton and George West. The groom, educated in New York, is from a notable Montreal family and worked as an interior decorator. They plan a trip to Houston Galveston and Dallas before settling somewhere.
The annual Catholic feast at Poth will be held at Hermann Sons Hall on Sunday September 16. Music and entertainment run day and night with barbecue and sausage meals served for dinner at 1130 and supper at 530. Adults pay 30 cents per plate and children 20 cents. Organizers aim to provide comfort and enjoyment for all attendees.
Floresville Chronicle-Journal offers a nine month subscription for $1.00 to any student or teacher in Texas. The deal applies to local students studying away from home as well.
The Fioresville Cemetery Association will meet at the home of Mrs. J C 4 this Friday at 3 30. All members are urged to attend and visitors are welcome.

I D Flores and his wife were visitors in San Antonio on Wednesday, enjoying a day of sightseeing and local attractions.

Henry Albert aged 67 years 10 months and 3 days died at his home a mile north of Floresville on Tuesday September 4 1923 at 10 30 p m. A respected farmer and Floresville Farm Loan Association director he moved from Lavaca county in 1904. Funeral was held at 3 pm yesterday at the family residence conducted by Rev Theo Winter with interment in Floresville Cemetery. He is survived by his widow nine children and other relatives. An obituary will appear next week.
The Wilson County Relief Office requests all residents to report any person offered private work who refuses it. Relief recipients should pursue lawful work to support their families, with extra funds from relief if needed. The office aims fair relief and urges public reporting of abuses while planning for future training and placement. About 44 million dollars may be appropriated for relief through May 1 next year, funded by taxpayers. Sixty rehabilitation home site leases expire year end 1938, with about 200 more landowners to sign leases soon.

The Tigers seek district 14-B glory after last year’s strong run, facing Central Catholic, Stockdale, Alamo Heights, Lanier, Kenedy, New Braunfels, Edison, and open dates. 11 lettermen, 8 reserves, 13 new candidates compete as Floresville builds on last season’s momentum.
The Fairview School will open Monday morning September 17 for the fall term with R. B. Fator as principal. Four other teachers are Mesdames Mitchell Hayden Winston Pavis Burton Hill and Miss Agnes Chaffin. Parents and citizens are invited to attend the opening day.
Stockdale Public School opened Tuesday before a record crowd as the senior class registered 45 students, surpassing the previous high of 25. County Superintendent J. F. Swift praised the community, board, and faculty for the rapid, well funded build up, while Mayor Merrill W. Smith pledged city support and urged careful driving to protect children. The event featured the high school orchestra, solo by Mrs Chester Smith, and piano by Joyce Baker as a sign of strong school spirit for the 1934 35 year.
J B Poe of St Paul Texas this week bought 91 acres from H T Beckworth of Linton part of the C F Voigt tract about two miles west of Floresville Beckworth county superintendent of San Patricio county bought the place year before last Poe intends to move onto the property soon and bring his age We welcome these new to our county.
