Food Stamp Program Starts in Wilson County

Administrated by the State Department of Public Welfare with USDA food stamps, eligible households receive ATP cards and pay a set amount. State Peanut Queen crowned in Texas pageant
The Texas Peanut Producers Board crowned Ginger Whitacre of Stephenville as the 1973 74 Texas State Peanut Queen after a nine contender contest. She will promote peanuts on radio and TV, earning a 250 scholarship at the Peanut Bowl game in Eastland on September 15 1973 and a further 250 upon completing her reign. First runner up was George Ann Bettis, second runner up Cheri Lundquist.
