The editor thanks Mr and Mrs Sam Fore Jr and the office staff for assisting in launching the weekly paper. Mr Sam remains associate editor and will advise as the new staff publishes future issues. The note invites local church and community groups to collaborate and pledges effort toward the area's betterment.
Cotton and okra fields in Wilson Atascosa Frio Medina and surrounding counties must be cleared of all plant parts by October 10 1963 under state law to eradicate pink bollworm. Violations may lead to court action. Growers are urged to begin cleanup after harvest and shred standing stalks and plow under all plant parts.
Harvest time brings Queen Tunnep or Janette Flieller and King James Vontur with the Royal Court of the Court of the Golden Sunset gathering the golden fruit for the Floresville Peanut Festival on September 27 and 28. The coronation of Queen Tunnep 19th is at 8:00 P M Friday September 27 in the old High School Gym. General Chairman is Mrs Edgar Ehlers. Invitations Chair Mrs Wm Foitik mailed notices to surrounding towns to invite representatives to the coronation and parade on September 28.
Floresville under Coach Jack Taylor faces George West in the season opener at 8 p.m. Friday. Floresville brings 27 players, with a mix of seasoned and new faces, while George West’s strong squad features seven returning starters on offense and eight on defense.

San Antonio S A Lodge president Fritz Schilo, head of the Hermann Sons fraternal order, is listed in Marquis Who's Who 1963-64 edition for the South and Southwest. He also appeared in 1961-82. Under his leadership the order has grown to over 56,000 members in Texas.

The Lorenz Frozen Food Locker Plant in Stockdale is sold to Willard Jordan. Mr and Mrs WW Lorenz established the business in July 1946 and will turn over management Tuesday. Lorenz will stay on as wholesale distributor for an oil company and move offices to Main St. He will also run a stock farm near Stockdale. Tuesday's San Antonio Express. Floresville Livestock Commission Co. reported its Labor Day sale on Monday to be the largest in months, totaling 519 head. Cattle numbered 398, hogs 116, and 5 goats, with buyers from Wilson County and neighboring counties. The market showed strength in cow and calf pairs with prices around five dollars, while butcher calves were steady and lighter weights remained in demand.
