Floresville school district rejects higher payment for two campus police officers. Council member Pete Sanchez demands roughly 70 000 dollars yearly, up from about 48 000, while officers have been pulled from middle and high schools. The dispute stems from a 1995 community policing grant and affects the district’s upcoming budget.
Wilson County deputies probe an inmate’s unsupervised visit to the women’s jail area at the Wilson County Justice Center on Aug 22. Joseph Krist, 34, used a hallway mop procedure to access the female pod amid 8 inmates and remained undetected for up to 12 hours. He was in solitary after a bank robbery case surfaced. A window air conditioning unit is suspected to have sparked a fire at a 100 year old home near Fairview in Floresville. Erica Luna and her two year old son escaped with only the clothes on their backs, while the family lacks insurance. Red Cross assisted with medicine for the asthmatic child as neighbors donate items. Firefighters contained the blaze. one firefighter was hurt slightly. A relief fund opened at First National Bank in Floresville with contact numbers for information.
Desiree Shanee Trevino, 17, daughter of Rudy and Sylvia Trevino of Floresville, was elected queen LXI of The Court of Coronations Past at the Floresville Peanut Festival Association on April 14. A Sacred Heart alumna and community volunteer, she has ties to Floresville and San Antonio, with a family including her brothers Rudy and Ryan Trevino and sister-in-law Melina Gonzales Trevino.
Justin Ray Leal, a Floresville High School senior born in San Antonio, is crowned this year's king elect. He is the eldest of Ray and Jeanette Leal’s five children and represents Wilson County’s long family legacy. His siblings Joshua, Jordan, Jared, and Catalina also attend Floresville schools.
