Two promotions were announced May 22 at the First City National Bank of Floresville. Frances Gaona was elected Assistant Vice President and Madetta Matheaus was elected cashier. Both are Floresville High School graduates with long banking tenure and receive congratulations.
Floresville announces 1973 74 Peanut Festival royalty led by Queen Katherine Haverlah with a full court and king Reboog John Pavliska. Lords, ladies in waiting, escorts, and court pages named along with coronation committee chairs and inaugural meeting details.
Poth Elementary School students win 31 ribbons in UIL literary meet with multiple firsts and high placings across oral reading picture memory spelling and story telling events. Notable winners include Howard Labus Elizabeth Garza Michael Jarzombek Cheryl Meyer Jill and many others. Dr. Sam Nixon lectures on venereal disease June 5 at Florence Methodist Church sponsored by United Methodist Women. Public education push aims to engage parents.
Carole Ann Flieller daughter of Mr and Mrs Jerome Fliel ler Jr named salutatorian of the 1973 Floresville High School graduating class with a 92.8 average. She has been Beta Club officer and secretary treasurer and class secretary, a four year Band member and vice president, attended Girls State, serves as Peanut Festival Queen, active in Floresville H. and State Entomology Foods and Nutritions and 4 H Recreation Lab, plans to enter St Marys University this fall.
The schedule lists matchups for the Senior Flax League in June and includes dates Tuesday June 8 and 12 and Friday June 8 15 and 22, with teams Poth Falls City Floresville Karnes City Pleasanton Beeville Kenedy George West. lists home and away pairings across five Fridays and five Tuesdays.
Hospitals from across Texas sent delegations of health care personnel to the 44th Annual Texas Hospital Association Convention and Exhibit Show in Houston May 19 to 23. Delegates sought guidance on federal regulations, patient care improvements, and new equipment and supplies, with Memorial Hospital's team led by Sister Laverne Mettloch and colleagues in roles from administration to volunteers.
Falls City Senior Class will sponsor a dance in Cestahowa on June 8 from 9 to 1. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Vinci k Zidek Reunion schedules games in Floresville Karnes City Beeville Pleasanton and Poth West Kenedy on July 6 and July 10. The event centers in Moulton Texas with play off plans announced for Friday.

During April there were new purchases of Series E and H United States Savings Bonds totaling 12945, announced by W H Woellert, chairman of the Wilson County Savings Bonds Committee. First four months' sales reached 53893, about thirty percent of the yearly goal.
