Local notices indicate Moresville plans to ship green corn early next week as farmers prepare fields for harvest. Residents are urged to contact Mr. Wells or County Agent Beck at least two days before cutters arrive so the company buyer can inspect fields and ensure readiness. An estimated 1500 acres are planted for green corn with field inspections underway.
Elder C A Buchanan of Bryan will start revival services at Ploresville Church of Christ next Sunday June 2 at 11 am. Topics for the following week and meeting announcements will be given. Buchanan is a well known local preacher respected for his pastorate here and invites members of other churches and unaffiliated readers to attend.
Floresville chamber of commerce board meets at 8 p m in county agent's office to elect officers for the year. Five new directors were chosen at the last regular meeting, and full attendance is urged. A county funeral for Martha Elizabeth Lowrance, 101, is noted with services in Floresville. Her long life included work as a mother to many and care for orphans. Survivors include A W Irwin, J B McKenzie, G B Lowrance, and J A Lowrance.
Southwest Distributing Co struggled with floods while installing natural gas pipelines in Floresville. Ditches flooded the site, forcing two days of layoff. Work resumed with added crews, including workers from Kenedy and a piping superintendent arriving from city hall. Progress slowed but continued amid resumed operations.
H 0, Wells, secretary and field man for the Chamber of Commerce, reports a rush of sweet potato slips from certified seed ordered from Tyler. Yesterday he sold 20,000 slips to A. B. Murray, the largest local sale to date. Demand is high and buyers must act quickly.
Wilson County diversifies beyond crops as Poth ships 89 onion cars, aims for 100 pending rain. Tomato grower Stockdale leads fifth car as prices and yields please growers. A campaign plans 500 acres of tomatoes next year.
Heavy rainfall and tornado like winds struck Wilson County causing washed highways and damaged culverts. Bridges were mildly harmed and several farms reported structural damage while the San Antonio river rose high and travelers were marooned at routes near Saspamco. Flooding affected Floresville and surrounding areas prompting use of the courthouse jury room as shelter.

The regular monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Wilson County Fair Association will be held at noon next Monday, June 3, with E. D. Beck in charge. Plans for the fair will be discussed. Little Sarah Mary Lieberman was operated on at Blake Hospital Wednesday and is reported to be progressing nicely.
