Dedication of Blessed Sacrament Church at Poth
The 3500-person dedication of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth occurred last Sunday May 24 1959, drawing the largest turnout ever for the town. Rain and clouds kept some away but 3500 were fed at a barbecue and hundreds visited the church throughout the day. Archbishop Stephen A Leven presided at the Solemn High Mass with Pastor Armand M Florizcone and assistants from San Antonio as worshipers filled the 500-seat church and many stood outside.

Wilson County 4 H club members received Sears pigs on May 8 in Floresville. Wayne Byrd led the program as county agent and the group noted the high interest with more applications than pigs. County Agent E L Spaniel will attend a Beef Cattle School June 1 to 5 in College Station as part of in service training. Walnut Caterpillars were spotted attacking pecan trees this week nearby.
