Heavy rains in the past week have halted onion shipments in Floresville and surrounding areas. About 4.14 inches of rain fell since last Friday, delaying harvests and dampening demand as government buyers paused purchases. Floresville shipments reached 50 cars yesterday with harvesting resuming soon. Total rainfall this year in the area totals 11.84 inches with May rainfall at 6.23 inches.

Prisoners Uninjured When Car Ditched
A car carrying four white prisoners from Kerrville en route to Huntsville State penitentiary overturned on Highway 16 at Elmendorf. Driver W R Crane skidded and rode into the ditch to avoid a culvert. he suffered facial bruises and a cut. Prisoners were unharmed, handcuffed in the cage, then brought to Wilson County jail after the top was torn off for release.

Courthouse Remodel Under WPA Begins This Week
Remodeling of the Wilson county courthouse under the WPA started Tuesday morning. The project, costing between 7000 and 10000 dollars, will be supervised by District Engineer English with Irvin of San Antonio as foreman and Walter Blohm as local foreman. The building will be stuccoed with new concrete floors, a main downstairs tile floor, added cornice, two concrete porches, and other improvements. Twenty three men begin the contract with more workers added as needed.
