Mary Kopecki daughter of Chester and Mrs Kopecki earns valedictorian honors with an average of 98.38 and plans to attend Texas Lutheran College in Seguin. She is noted as a Pocuctey Scholar recipient associated with Walmart.
Stacie Wiatrek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wiatrek Jr., graduates with a 97.01 average and earns salutatorian honors. She plans to attend Texas A&M University this fall to major in a field yet to be announced.
By Lea Popham two students were chosen for the John Philip Sousa Award, honoring The March King. The band director selected two seniors who met the criteria after reviewing outstanding qualifications.
Wilson Memorial Hospital announces a new interim series titled Respite/Interim Catabin patte aimed at guiding patients and families through transitional care. The program offers workshops and support sessions led by care coordinators and social workers across the hospital campus.
On Wednesday May 20 at 5 15 a.m. Trooper Martinez investigated a two vehicle crash on FM 2772 about 2 1 7 miles east of La Vernia. Alfredo Robles 41 of Sutherland Springs made an illegal turn and was struck by 62 year old Wilburn Johnson of Seguin. Minor injuries reported. Robles was cited for failing to present proof of insurance and an illegal turn.
A co ed volleyball tournament will be held Sunday June 7 1987 beginning at 8 30 a m to benefit Poth Youth Soccer. Sponsored by Pearl Al Set Poth Athletic Assoc and Jr Food.
Floresville announces a Friday market on the Plaza in front of Wal-Mart from 3 to 7 pm starting May 29. Organizers Helen Palmer and Rosie Vasbinder invite local farmers to join and sell fresh fruit and vegetables, offering contact numbers for inquiries.
Center of Texas has expanded service office hours in Andrews Whitehouse Crockett and Fairfield. Telephone customers statewide may call area service offices Monday through today from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. lunch hour. Expan ded hours took effect before May 26. Offices in district locations were open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The extra half hour in morning and afternoon assists customers contacting the company business office earlier or later in the day.
Pathoo School senior Wiatrek commits to Incarnate Word for college basketball. Stephanie lettered three years in high school basketball, earned second team all district honors, and made the State all tournament team at the State Tournament in Austin her senior year.
The Wilson County Farm Bureau Queen and Talent Fund Contest on May 15 1987 at Floresville Intermediate School named Michelle Breiten Miss Wilson County Farm Bureau and Melissa Mutz Talent Fund winner. District competition in June will include both winners. Local officials welcomed guests and Jamie Gipe served as emcee. The event highlighted contestants from Floresville Stockdale Poth Rocky Stockdale and other communities.
The Foresville Municipal Pool will open the 1967 summer season on May 30 with a noon start. A 12 00 pm and 2 00 pm sale is noted. The pool has a new coat of paint.
