Floresville Postmaster Demonstrates Air Mail Week
Postmasters from Floresville Nixon Karnes City and other towns joined Kenedy in a Thursday air mail demonstration led by Postmaster Holchak. A San Antonio plane landed at 3 15 PM greeted by about 1000 locals with the Kenedy High School Band. The Floresville postmaster delivered mail to the plane and served as a carrier visiting Path Falls City and Hobson. Nearby mayor Terry Scarborough welcomed the pilot and officials presented nearly 1000 air mail letters mailed at Kenedy. See POSTMASTER TAKES Page 4.

Kenneth Wayne Hesskew aged 3 years 3 months and 8 days died at his home north of town at 11 30 Saturday morning May 21 after a twelve day illness. Burial was in Mercelena Cemetery Sunday at 4 00 p m with Rev Tankersley of Floresville conducting the service. The Chronicle Journal extends sympathy to the bereaved parents.

Floresville and Poth had shipped 683 carloads of onions by Thursday noon with Poth loading 404 cars shipped and 714 cars being loaded. Floresville shipped 279 cars with five loading. Market has been down and shipments slowed. If remaining crops are harvested and shipped, the two towns may reach about 50 more cars.
