Enriquez Indicted for Three Deaths in Texas Spree
Corpus Christi AP Three indictments for murder with malice were returned against 19 year old Johnny Rudy Enriquez in connection with a Beeville and Banquete shooting spree that killed Victoria Perez 21 Frederic Perez 24 and Francisco Perez 65. A separate indictment in Wilson County covers the death of Texas Highway Patrolman Darvin K. Hogg 25 of Nixon who was shot while approaching Enriquez after the Perez killings. An additional Karnes County indictment covers the death of Kay Foss 22 of Beeville after Enriquez forced his way into her car. Enriquez was arrested in Cuero disguised as a woman and is jailed in Karnes County without bond.

Library site set aside after Kenedy bond defeat vote
Wil son County Commissioners Court set aside the new site for the Wilson County Public Library after Kenedy Independent School District voters rejected an 800000 bond for a junior high school and remodeling projects. Maintenance tax passed. bond failed 398 to 400. The library site behind the current building on a triangular lot at 4th and D faces South Southeast.

Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee Plans Announced
Stockdale's Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday night to finalize plans for the XXII annual Watermelon Jubilee starting Thursday June 16 with the coronation of Queen Melone. A western rodeo with added attractions runs Friday and Saturday nights, followed by western dances. Saturday features a parade at 10 am, a watermelon auction, barbecue, children activities, contests, an old fiddler's contest, and an art exhibit in Stockdale.
