Floresville Soldier Dies in South Pacific in WWII
Two Floresville natives paid the supreme sacrifice in World War II. Juan A. Montoya, 19, born in Floresville, died May 2 1944 in the South Pacific from wounds received in action. He enlisted May 5 1943 and is survived by his parents Adolfo G Montoya and wife, a brother Adolfo Jr, and three sisters Concha Gonzales Salada Luna and Beatrice Montoya. A War Department letter from Brigadier General Robert Dunlop expressed deep sympathy and noted further details would be shared if received.

Soldier Tony Alfaro Killed in Action in Italy
Pvt. Tony Alfaro, 22, son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Alfaro of Floresville, was notified by the War Department Sunday that he was killed in action in Italy on April 30. He entered service October 7, 1943, served seven months at Camp Gruber Oklahoma, two months on maneuvers at Camp Polk Louisiana, and later was transferred to Fort Sam Houston.
