John Beakley Swift a 46 year old Fairview grocery operator was killed when his 1958 pickup collided with a stalled truck along Hwy 97 West near Los Angeles Texas about 11 PM Tuesday. He and his wife ran a longtime Fairview store and he leaves a wife, three daughters, three sons and a step family. funeral held May 19 at Vinyard Funeral Chapel Floresville with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Surviving include three daughters, three sons, and three step-children. He was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio in poor condition before passing services.

Youth Killed In Car Crash Near Nativity Parish
Steve Sekula was killed when his car veered off U S 181 and struck a culvert. He died on arrival at a funeral home after 8 p.m. Monday. Requiem Mass was held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic church in Samoa with burial in Cestohona. Survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs Steve Sekula, brothers, mother and grandmothers. Investigating officers were Patrolmen Vernon Martin and Mauricio Cantu.

Man Shot in Arm Near Plum Street Friday
Blackey Valdez suffered gunshot wounds to his left arm last week Friday near Plum Street. He was taken to a San Antonio hospital where a portion of his arm was removed. Authorities say the shooting occurred about 9 a m and arose from a prior argument.
