Baccalaureate sermon delivered by Rev. W. C. Moffett of San Antonio. E. W. Seale, president of A. I. College, speaks at graduation. High tribute paid to the Class of 734.
Twenty seven seniors received diplomas at a Floresville graduation. A baccalaureate service at the high school featured Rev W C Moffett and music by Mrs E F Woolsey Jr. The keynote urged building character over pomp or power, stressing Christian ideals. The ceremony followed a Sunday service at the Methodist church and a large commencement crowd.
Dr L L A McGee of Southwest Texas State Teachers College San Marcos closed his Teachers' Training School at Pieresville high school with the termination of the regular term. He conducted through the Extension Department and had strong enrollment of local teachers and others from nearby towns and communities.

Head of the Texas College of Arts and Industries at Kingsville returned to his hometown Monday evening to deliver the commencement address to the graduating class of 1934 at his alma mater.
A four member Wilson county committee was named to represent the county on the Texas Centennial Advisory Board. Members are J. H. Bain Stockdale R L Eschenburg Floresville R J Woellert Path and Sam Fore Jr Floresville. The first official meeting is set for June 6 at 10:00 a m in the Senate Chamber Austin.

Miss Mary Frances Baldwin, a high school teacher for the past term, departed yesterday for her home in Sebinal.
A Sunday afternoon shooting left Eligio Castro dead in an apparent dispute. Esteven Leal Jr. is jailed on a charge related to the case. A bystander was injured in the incident.
Bligio P. Castro 37, a well known local citizen, died after a shooting at the Wilson County Fair Grounds Sunday afternoon near the Grandstand parking area. Esteven Leal Jr., about 24, is jailed on murder charges with an examining trial set for Saturday. Mrs. Castro faces assault with intent to murder charges with bond set at 500 dollars. The case stems from enmity connected to a 1932 killing of Leal’s sister.
C R Eschenburg, Floresville business leader and Eschenburg Cash and Carry manager, suffered severe burns when hot water spilled from a sterilizing jar onto his foot and leg as he moved winter clothes to the tailor shop. He remains homebound but is improving daily as friends express concern.
The editor acknowledges receipt of an invitation to attend Baylor University commencement at Waco on Monday May 28 1934 at ten o clock. Joe Warren Sheehy son of Mr and Mrs J T Sheehy of this city earns his law degree from Baylor and has a strong academic record. He taught a rural Karnes county school for two years and attended Texas University for two terms. A Fioresville High graduate class of 27 he made the Baylor honor roll frequently and is regarded as popular and high achieving.
The Sacred Heart School pupils will perform The Golden Strip operetta in three scenes on Sunday May 27 at 8 p m in the Floresville school auditorium. The event promises a light musical program with student performers.
Wieresville shipments reach 57 cars at 4:00 yesterday. Bulk of crop is about out. Onions from the area continue to move steadily as cars are loaded and dispatched to markets. Local dealers report strong demand and steady prices despite tightening supplies.
Werritory moved 400 cars yesterday afternoon and 301 cars shipped earlier. August Malcher of Richman & Samuels has handled the crop for several seasons. Floresville shipped 57 cars by 4 00 yesterday with 4 more loading. The bulk of the Black Hill crop out of Coughran via Missouri Pacific totals about 50 cars, bringing Territory season total to about 408 cars.
A meeting in Floresville at the Chamber of Commerce is set for Tuesday May 29 at 2 00 pm to explain the new cream grading system effective June 1. Texas buyers will grade sour cream No 1 No 2 and No 3 with No 1 commanding higher price and No 3 unsuitable for human consumption. Sweet cream will be graded by grade statewide. A large creameries rep and a U S Department of Agriculture rep will explain and illustrate the grading method and answer questions. A E Archer of the Yoakum Swift plant aided arrangements for the meeting. County Agent E D Beck urges attendance.
A man about 45 years old and of normal appearance was found beside a road near Floresville and brought to custody by Sheriff A. B. Carnes of Wilson County. He refused to talk, and detectives had no trace of identity. He had been taken to the State Hospital. The man weighs 145 pounds and stands about 5 feet 6 inches.

Karnes City Texas May 23 Helen Burris daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Burris sustained injuries in an incident described by local records as a broken smart halle drs earns.
A fragment notes a couple visiting at the home of Mrs Burrows, the mother, hosting guests in San Antonio area during an unspecified period.
An aged Mexican man was struck on a highway near Poth by a car driven by Leo and Bill Kosarek while attempting to pass, breaking the man’s leg and sending him to a San Antonio hospital. The Kosareks escaped unharmed but their car suffered major damage.
Grammar school commencement exercises were held at the high school auditorium last Friday evening with 29 graduates receiving certificates of promotion to high school. Superintendent J. H. Stamper from Karnes City spoke, stressing education over war costs. diplomas were presented by Judge S. B. Carr. The Floresville High School Alumni banquet followed, honoring the class of 1934 with 101 attendees, a long program of reminiscences, and a toast by D. C. Donaho Jr. and remarks by Miss Annie Laurie McDaniel.
The Evangelical Friedens Church plans a large barbecue feast at Three Oaks Hall on Sunday afternoon June 10. Barbecue and sausage supper with trimmings will be served. A statewide prominent speaker will address the crowd after lunch. George's Entertainers will provide music for the afternoon and the evening dance.
Fay C Canfield and Clifford Ford have purchased the Powell Confectionery housed in the Houston building beside Palace Drug Store and assume control of the business. The shop will continue to offer cold drinks lunches sandwiches and confections. Kenneth Powell the former operator has not yet set a definite schedule.
Felix Duran, 51, of San Antonio, was hurt early Sunday near Path depot at Poth when a southbound freight engine struck the car he rode in after it stalled on the track. Driver Niconar Torres and a third occupant escaped uninjured. Duran was knocked about 50 feet with a cut jaw but no broken bones reported.
Tax Assessor J. T. Sheehy was reported on the sick list for a day or two in the early period, with the note indicating brief illness and absence from duties.
