Local Students Named to Legion Boys State Delegation
Floresville High School juniors John Erick Marin and Jeffrey J. Valdos were chosen to attend the Texas American Legion Boys State session at the University of Texas June 5 to 11. Commander W R McBride announced the selection and praised faculty support and organizer Norma Drozd for coordinating the program.

Falls City High names Elaine Kroll valedictorian for 1989 90
Elaine Kroll, daughter of Nick and Mrs. Kroll Jr., Hobson, is named Falls City High School senior class valedictorian for 1989 90. She is a four year band member and drum major, region award recipient, and National Band Award winner. Elaine earned varsity letters in basketball, captained her senior year, ran track as a freshman and senior, played tennis, and held roles in Spanish and Drama clubs. She served in National Honor Society, 4 H, yearbook business manager, and class treasurer. She placed in ULL district events, won DAR Good Citizen, and earned multiple leadership and scholarship honors. She plans to study journalism at Bee County College this fall. Memorial Day closures affect Floresville on May 28, 1990 with no garbage pickup.

Ramiro Gonzales, senior at Falls City High School, named 1989 90 salutatorian. He earned National Honor Society membership, Scholastic All American and Who's Who honors, led FFA as secretary, captained football, qualified in 800m track, and held roles in Drama and Spanish clubs. He is son of Mr and Mrs Santiago Gonzales.

Sisters Open New Store in Floresville by McTighe and Maria
Annette Maria and Arlene McTighe opened Sisters in Floresville beside Winns on Hwy 181 North. The shop sells Victorian and Guatemalan clothing and accents, India and Guatemalan jewelry, hand painted tees, china, crystal, pottery, Southwestern hand blown glass, and antique and barnwood furniture. The sisters previously ran Cuero and Victoria ventures and plan to grow in San Antonio.

Floresville High School Holds Baccalaureate and Commencement
The Floresville High School Class of 1990 will hold its baccalaureate and commencement exercises at 8:00 p.m. on Friday June 1 at Eschenburg Field. Guest speaker is Martha Schultz Hicks, a former Floresville High School graduate. Relatives and friends of the graduates are reminded.

Floresville Pool Opens This Weekend
The Floresville City Pool opens this weekend with schedules on Saturday and Sunday. Guests are asked to remain seated during the program and a professional photographer will document graduates receiving diplomas. No photographers on the field and flowers or balloons should not be delivered to events. The Electric Light and Power System will be closed Monday May 8 1990 in observance of Memorial Day.
