Floresville High names valedictorian and salutatorian for 1979
Floresville High School honors Deanna Hoelscher as valedictorian and Monroe Sickenius as salutatorian for the 1979 senior class. Hoelscher, active in Beta Club, band, student council, and yearbook, plans to attend Texas A M to study chemical engineering. Sickenius, a four year Beta Club and band member, will attend the University of Texas at Austin to study biochemistry. Graduation is May 24 at Eschenburg Field.

Donna Stavinoha of Pirette Junior is named to a second All-State basketball team. Highlighted by freshman year as a starter on the Pirettes and All District selection, her sophomore season earned MVP in the Kenedy Tournament and All-Tournament honors at Pettus. She set scoring marks in the Canyon New Braunfels event and collected top honors from the Corpus Christi Caller for most athletic girl and Player of the Year. Her dedication and enthusiasm are noted as shaping her future success.
