The Distributive Education Club of Floresville hosted its first Employer Employee Banquet on May 7 1973 with about seventy five guests. Jerry Jost Pleasanton DE Coordinator and students Sherry Sexton David Smith Johnny Leyva presented What DE Means to Me. Certificates of appreciation were given to numerous local businesses and individuals. Kim Baumann and David Moreno named 1973 Students of the Year.

Floresville Jaycee Father Jim Henke wins state Speak-Up title
Jim Henke of Floresville emerged as the state winner at the 46th Texas Jaycees Convention in Austin for the Speak-Up competition. The top five delivered short talks and the top three were announced at the Presidential Awards Luncheon, with Henke presenting his prepared talk to about 2200 delegates. The Floresville chapter was also named Outstanding Chapter in Region 304.

Certification Deadlines For Feed Grain And Peanuts Highlighted
Farmers in the Feed Grain and Wheat Programs and those with peanut allotments must certify acreage set aside and planted by June 11 to avoid loss of program payments. The notice covers prevented planting, preservation of history for base and allotments, grazing restrictions, skip-row peanut patterns, flaxseed loan and purchase programs, and a memorial day office closure. Prize Winners Drawn at Floresville Branch Opening
Little Miss Karen Renee Fietsam drew names at the Karnes County Savings and Loan Floresville branch as three prizes were awarded.
