About 100 Boy Scouts and many Scoutmasters joined a two day Guada-Coma District Camporee at Westfall Geronimo Creek Ranch eight miles west of Seguin. Teams from Comal Guadalupe and Wilson counties took part in a well supervised outdoor program, praised as one of the most enjoyable and successful camporees. The first load of Floresville grown green black eye peas weighing 35,235 pounds was trucked out Thursday. Pedro Gonzales raised the crop on Leo Johns farm in Loma Vista west of Floresville. The peas sold for 2 cents a pound to L S Holmes of Wood and were shipped to Brownwood for canning.
