On Friday May 17 1985 Wilson County Senior Citizen Day was observed at the Center on Third Street Floresville Texas with festivities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wilson County and the Commissioners Court declare May 17 as Wilson County Senior Citizen Day. Proclamation by County Judge I W D Cox invites officials and groups to support older citizens. May 1985 titled Senior Citizen Month urged activity and leadership. luncheon and mugs for invited guests noted.
The notice invites relatives of persons named on the Memorial Day of Honor 1984. The ceremony will be held at the designated site on May 25, 198.
Wilson Memorial Hospital hosts a blood drive to aid the Shriners Crippled Children Hospital and Burn Unit in Galveston. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday May 29 1985 volunteers are urged to donate blood to support 54 South Texas hospitals with a daily need of 250 donors. Floresville City Pool announces its 1985 season starts Saturday May 25 with Free Swim Day. Admission will be free from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. Pool manager Hilary A. Reile invites residents to attend. Banks First City National Bank of Floresville and First National Bank of Path close Monday May 27 for Memorial Day observance.
The Floresville Chronicle Journal will be closed on Monday May 27 1985 in observance of a special holiday. The notice informs readers of the temporary closure and service disruption for the day.
The Wilson County Volunteer Ambulance Association seeks new members. A social at Floresville United Methodist Church basement on Thursday May 30 at 7 30 PM invites Wilson County residents to learn about the group. Refreshments and a film will explain the association and an ECA class starts May 11 from 7 to 10 PM in Floresville for adults meeting age requirements.
Karnes County Savings and Loan in Floresville celebrated 25 years with a three day open house May 15 16 and 17 1985. About 233 people registered for a drawing awarding four $20 Savings Pass Books. The winners named Janet Kimney Elaine Talley Mrs George Boening and Jesse S Bayer were drawn by Carl Eschenburg Floresville Chamber of Commerce president and Gloria Fleming assisted. KWCB radio announced the winners live from the KCS and L office.
Floresville High School asks families to cooperate for the Class of 1985 ceremony. No field photos by attendees. a professional photographer will capture each graduate during the presentation. Supervise children. Do not send flowers or gifts to the field. no designated safe drop area is listed.
