The Floresville annual Jaycee and Jaycee-Ette Installation Banquet on Saturday May 9 1975 celebrated ten years of Jayceeism. Delbert Traeger praised past presidents as Rev Joe Hubner offered invocation. New officers for 1975 76 were installed by State VP Ken Ewald with Bobby Pena as President and Brenda Pfeil named outstanding Jaycee Ett e of the year. Guests from Path Falls City Bay City Victoria and San Antonio attended along with a barbecue meal.

Wheat-Fed Gator Slain Near Borego Creek
James and Dennis Pfeil spotted an 8 ft 2 in alligator weighing over 200 pounds near McCoy while harvesting wheat. The reptile was first seen about 8:30 AM Friday and killed later that day with a .306 rifle after work, with Bobcat and wild javelina also observed nearby. David made the sighting and James carried out the kill.

Polley Mansion Open House Draws Historic Interest
The 1847 Whitehall Polley Mansion will be open Sunday May 25 and Sunday June 1 from 2 to 6 p.m. LaVernia owners Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Linne recently received a ceramic Medallion from the San Antonio Conservation Society at its Recognition Dinner Fort Sam Houston for restoration and furnishing of the 1850s era mansion. A Texas State Historical Medalion is also on display from the Wilson County Historical Committee. The public can tour the home guided, located four miles north of Sutherland Springs on FM 539.

Local Youth Earns 1975 Dekalb Agriculture Award
Gabe Korzekwa of Kosciusko was named winner of the 1975 Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award for scholarship leadership and supervised farming. He attends Path High School where he presides as student leader and serves on the FFA Livestock Judging team. His program includes cross breed cattle horses small grain and sorgums, with plans to continue agriculture work after graduation.

Floresville High School announces Timor thy Stalla as valedictorian with a 94.7307 grade average and Catherine Mayes as salutatorian with a 93.5681 average. Victim Found Near Stockdale
On Thursday May 8, the body of Alton John Miller aged 37 was found near Highway 123 south of Stockdale around 8 p.m. A truck driver notified Deputy Sheriff R W Dowd. The wound, described as a mouth injury, prompted investigation with Wilson County Sheriff's Dept and Texas Rangers assisting State Highway Patrol.

Wounded hitchhiker shot during argument near Stockdale
A 24-year-old San Antonio woman hitchhiking to Victoria was wounded by an accidental gunshot at about 3 00 a m Friday near Stockdale. She was treated and released from Floresville Memorial Hospital. Two San Antonio men faced bonds of 29000 each, later posted and cleared as the Wilson County Sheriff’s Dept investigated.

Car Crash Destroys Pole and Hydrant at Third Street
Gerardo Garcia of Poth drove at 3rd and G Street around 4 30 Sunday morning. He hit a fire hydrant and a telephone pole, tangled electric wires, and left part of town without lights for up to two hours. His 68 Pontiac was badly damaged. the hydrant torn out and water flowed until repairs. The telephone and utility poles were damaged as City Patrolman Tony Griego and two county deputies assisted.
