Secretary Wells traveled Wednesday to finalize details as Chamber of Commerce teams set up a tomato market with Stockdale buyers. Boone Caswell and Tindle, based in Stockdale, will open a local branch to manage crop handling and sales for growers.
H C Wells announces a new tomato shed in Floresville with weekly pickups on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Boon Caswell and Tindle buyers from Stockdale will grade and pay the going price minus 25 cents per hundred for trucking, with losses for bruised tomatoes born by the buyers. Louis Herman of Stockdale buyers will also be present on schedule. Farmers are urged to pick tomatoes when ready and deliver them the next morning.
Hubert Avant, star left tackle, was elected captain of the Floresville High School Tiger football squad for 1931 after a Tuesday lettermen meeting. He has starred for two years and will be a senior this fall. Coach B. J. Irwin reports spring practice as the team begins rebuilding with several lettermen returning and promising new material.
WwW Ellinghausen and family and ary Teltschik were seen in San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon as locals noted their appearance.
A fire in Stockdale Texas damaged an old warehouse owned by King, Smith and Laney, with losses around 8,000 to 10,000 dollars. Shucks and bedding hay used for shipping watermelons burned while a cement shed and a refrigerator car also suffered damage. Fire crews from San Antonio arrived about 11 p.m. to control the blaze as a school play was disrupted
Mr and Mrs C T Schaedel and their family of Georgetown were guests of Rev Lewis McVea and family in Floresville last weekend. The Schaedels, long time missionaries to Africa, spoke at the Methodist church Sunday morning. Health issues brought them back to the States where he now undertakes special work at Southwestern University Georgetown.

R L Marquis was chosen as the new president of a San Antonio school. The appointment follows his role at North Texas State Teachers College where B W Hartley was mentioned as a related figure.
Field Agent Phillip P. King of the State Bureau of Vital Statistics visited Floresville to discuss accurate county registrations with County Attorney D. Richard Voges and local officials. He notes Wilson County had 463 births and 214 deaths in 1980, versus an expected 580 births and 265 deaths from census data, urging citizens to study the law and ensure registrations.
Revival at Floresville Baptist Church begins next Wednesday night May 27 led by Rev B H Owens of Karnes City Baptist Church. Old time gospel preaching and songs featured with services at 10 am and 8 15 pm daily. Local pastor Rev J T Howard promotes the meeting and invites all to attend.
Filor esville school faculty members enjoyed a sunrise breakfast last Saturday morning as part of a informal gathering. Community attendees described a friendly, relaxed event with light refreshments and conversations about school activities and upcoming events.
The Floresville and Path communities plan to ship about 300 carloads of Bermuda onions for 1931, a Wilson county record. The Ford truck caravan toured the city last Friday from 9 30 to 11 a m visiting dealers to display Ford's latest trucks and commercial cars including grain and cattle racks patrol dump bodies and light and heavy deliveries. Dealer R Teas said Ford can meet most transportation needs with current and upcoming models and that the caravan will visit all Texas Ford dealerships led by Beggs and Kutler who are in charge.
