Floresville officials enacted an emergency dog ordinance after a rabies confirmed dog was killed. Citizens warned to restrain or confine all dogs for 30 days, with penalties for loose dogs after 7:00 AM May 15. Authorities contacted Austin and health departments, noting risk to surrounding countryside.
Floresville Texas City Council declares a serious emergency after a rabies positive dog was found. The animal was killed and its head sent to Austin for testing. A 30 day quarantine follows with all loose dogs to be killed after 7 AM May 18 1955.
Nearly 400 residents gathered in Floresville courthouse to hear plans for a countywide hospital. Speakers urged a modern, well equipped facility to serve all races and professions, with a proposed 20 000 signers for a countywide vote and a 75 cent per 1000 valuation rate.
Wilson County Library directors plan a House to House canvass on Thursday evening June 2 from 7 to 8 to raise 3000 for a new bookmobile serving about 15000 county readers. Donations may be left in jars at several locations including Floresville Poth Stockdale La Vernia and Sutherland Springs.
Wilson County welcomes Gene Spaniel as the new county agent starting May 16. He plans to meet 4-H clubs across the county, expects busy days, and invites residents to visit his Floresville office, with office hours from 12 to 9 a.m. on Mondays and 8 to 9 a.m. other days. He promises to assist and find answers if needed.
The Texas Automotive Dealers Association awards Floresville Motor Co for lending a car to Floresville Independent School for high school driver training this year. Texas dealers collectively loaned vehicles to over 200 schools to support behind the wheel instruction as part of a broader safety program.
Mr A D Richardson president of Wilson County Farm Bureau and SWPGA directors invite peanut growers to a meeting at the court house Floresville on May 21. The meeting will adjourn not later than 9 pm and all peanut growers are urged to attend.
Floresville Junior High presents a spring concert at the Floresville Auditorium on May 20 1955 with Fritz Teltschik directing. The program features marches overtures solos by Daniel Rodriguez and Gene Capri¢e performances by the band including the Fairest of the Fair Light Cavalry Overture Vanished Army Wedding of the Wind and Let The Lower Lights Be Burning, with the Majorettes Judy Carson and six other Texas Flowers leading routines.
A concert dedicated to Mr Ros Eschenburg honors his loyalty and support for the school band. The group began at the White House Cafe in 1937 and later moved to the Wow Hall where he worked privately for four years with little outside help.
Floresville High School principal E. B. Major announces the top ten students for the 1955 graduating class. Valedictorian is Donald Hoelscher and salutatorian Jo Ann Walston, with eight others listed by scholastic standing including Annie Robles Dorothy Boening Cecelia Montes Doris Kurtz Rosemarie Carvajal Bobbie Lou Sutherland Ronald Tipton and Stella Estrada.

A free chest X-ray event is planned for Floresville on June 10 with Ville serving as general chairman. Other committees and final plans will be announced later.
