Harvest Outlook Brightens as Wilson County Onion Crop Nears Complete
Wilson County farmers report 80 to 85 percent of the onion crop harvested with Floresville and Poth shipments totaling 566 carloads for 1988. Prices rose from 30-40 cents to 70-90 cents per 100 pounds for No.1 onions while last week’s fast market improved profits. Total county shipments may reach 650 cars or more if weather stays favorable.

Brownlow Pioneer Dies in Floresville at 87
J M Brownlow, 87, longtime Wilson and Bexar counties resident, died suddenly Sunday afternoon at his daughter Mrs Irwin’s Floresville home. He suffered a stroke three months ago but had seemed better until a few days prior. Gray Fox Kills 20 Turkeys Prompt Farmer Retaliates
Ed Barosh, a San Antonio River area farmer seven miles south of town, reported 20 turkeys from this year's flock killed by a clever gray fox. He tracked the animal Friday morning and killed it with a shotgun, ending raids after prior fox losses on the same property.
