Byrd And Hughes Selected To Go To 1994 American Legion Boys State
Two Floresville High School students, David A. Byrd and Andrew A. Hughes, were chosen by Post 38 American Legion to attend the 1994 Boys State at the University of Texas at Austin from June 4 to 10. Byrd is a junior and former student council chair, while Hughes is a Tiger Band officer and junior class president with National Honors Society membership.

GTE wins approval for expanded metro calling plan
On May 10 1994 the Texas PUC approved GTEs request to allow optional one way calling from Floresville La Vernia and Sutherland Springs into the San Antonio metropolitan service area. The plan enables Floresville Sutherland Springs or La Vernia customers to call San Antonio without long distance charges while San Antonio callers would pay local rates. The joint effort involved Floresville La Vernia Wilson County GTE and Southwestern Bell.

Floresville standout Alex Trinidad won the Class 4-A 1600 meter title at Memorial Stadium Austin, clocking 4:20.3 to become FH S first state champion and school record holder. Victor Parras and Christian Balli followed in 2nd and 3rd, as Trinidad led from the start and set a Tigers school mark.
