LaVernia Chamber of Commerce organizes Independence Day events to aid the new Boy Scout troop and Cub Pack. A barbecue dinner, all you can eat for $1, and hours of entertainment lead to cash prizes including a $300 grand prize. Skeeter Jasper's Orchestra will play for the closing dance.
Floresville High School holds a May 25, 1956 commencement in the high school gym with processional invocation by Rev. A. Smith and benediction by Mrs. W. A. Smith. Speakers include salutatorian Mrs. E. F. Woolsey Jr. and Rev. John J. Gerbermann. diplomas presented by Albina Estrada Carter and R. Wootton, Superintendent.
