Floresville Nursing Home invites the community to visit during National Nursing Home Week. Activities will be held daily for residents as the public comes to observe and share time with families and new acquaintances.

On April 30 the Poth delegation led by principal advisor and officers attended the Alamo District FFA banquet at John Marshall High School. Pamela Billimek was runner-up for Sweetheart after multiple run offs, and Isidore Sekula was elected vice president of the district officers board.
Wilson County Vocational Agriculture classes are constructing new 4 by 5 inch metal pens to replace aging wooden ones at the show barn. Pens sell for 50 dollars each to businesses clubs families organizations or individuals, with buyer names welded on a blue and white sign. Funds go to FFA 4-H Project One, with Stockdale Floresville and Poth class groups participating and local banks serving as treasurers.
The 2nd Annual Greater Devine Chamber of Commerce Youth Rodeo set for Saturday May 26 1979 at it's scheduled to awards Trophy Saddles to all participants and determine top youth riders.
State Republican representatives will meet May 23 at 10:00 a.m. at J. C. Turner home 1706 4th St Floresville to organize support for Gov John Connally for the Republican nomination and eventual presidency. All residents of Floresville and surrounding area are invited to join in planning and coordination.
Gregory Schulze of Seguin, son of Otto G. Schulze Jr., received the Alice K. Wessels Memorial Scholarship at Texas Lutheran College during ceremonies held April 28.
A new women's softball program begins in Floresville as part of a county wide league project. The team is sponsored by Wayne's Distributing Co Inc at 940 F Street Floresville, owned by Wayne Heiligmann. Organizers seek players aged 16 and older from Ree community to join.
Linda Opiela named valedictorian of Falls City High School class of 1979. She is Junior and Senior Class officer, National Honor Society leader, UIL competitor, annual editor, and plans to study nursing after Bee County College and the University of Texas at Austin. Barbara Gawlik named salutatorian. She held class offices, starred in Future Homemakers of America and band, NHS member, UIL editor, and lettered in basketball and track. She plans Bee County College then Southwest Texas State University to study computer programming.
