Nixon State Bank La Vernia Branch Ground Breaking
A ground breaking ceremony was held at 1 00 p m on April 24 at the Nixon State Bank La Vernia Branch on Highway 87. The 4 000 square foot building will become the permanent home of the Full Service Branch. Construction overseen by Terry Quiroga Wes Krueger and Eddy Rauch Construction with completion targeted for mid October.

Fire heavily damages Terry's Cafe in Floresville
The Floresville cafe at 1326 Third Street suffered heavy fire and smoke damage on Saturday after owner Terri Trevino found the blaze around 4:00 p.m. The Floresville Volunteer Fire Department quickly contained it, likely starting from an electrical issue in the kitchen.

Community Meeting Planned For Rancho De Las Cabras In July
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park officials and staff held a Floresville meeting to discuss planning for the Rancho de las Cabras Unit on the San Antonio River. Don Goldman led the session focusing on local business needs, feasibility, and the coming General Management Plan. Floresville votes to buy Felps and appoint officials
The Floresville City Council met May 9 1996 at City Hall to canvass May 4 election results. Mayor Raymond Ramirez and Aldermen Johns Gonzales Henke Pfeil Ximenez were present. The body unanimously approved several motions including executive session and an intergovernmental agreement subject to bond financing and settlement terms. A quarterly fire dept report was requested and the meeting adjourned at 9 30 p.m.
