About 1,000 attendees enjoyed the P T A May Fete at the high school auditorium on Friday May 9 at 8 PM with the theme Fantasy in Nursery Land. Queen Jo Ann Ferguson and King Charley McInvale were crowned as Supt. E. B. Masur served as Prime Minister and Principal Robert Stevens as MC.
Exeter Oil Co. No. 1 Swien tek in Wilson County tests two 700-foot wildcats on the North Path Field three miles northeast of Floresville. No. 1 is planned to 4,650 feet from the northeast line and 8,200 feet from the southeast line of the Heirs of Simon and Juan de Arocha Grant A-1. No. 2 will be 400 feet northeast of No. 1 and 8,200 feet from the southeast line.
A near fatal car and train collision occurred Wednesday morning about 9 30 on the T N O track near Calaveras on the Herman Johns farm eight miles northwest of here. Mr McCurley a Southwestern Bell worker driving a truck was struck by westbound Skidmore local train No 379. He was not seriously injured though badly shaken with several cuts. His truck was demolished and he was taken to a San Antonio hospital.
The Floresville Consolidated Independent School District administrative office of Supt. E. B. Masur was burglarized Monday night. A window was broken to gain entry and a bar forced the safe, with $80 taken. Nothing else was disturbed at the office. The nearby Veterans School Building on school property was affected.

Floresville High School plans its 49 graduates for Friday May 30 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium with Judge W. O. Murray, chief justice of the Fourth Court of Civil Appeals at San Antonio and former student, delivering the commencement address. The baccalaureate is Sunday May 25 at 8 p.m. Valedictorian is Mary Jane Bayer.
Exeter Oil Co. Ltd. No. 1 Swientek, second Budawell for the North Poth Field, Wilson County, flowed 151.7 barrels of 41.5 gravity oil on potential test through 964 inch choke under 1520 pounds pressure on tubing. Gas oil ratio was 2130 to 1. Production from open hole at 6301 to 6450 feet. Wednesday's San Antonio Express.
Brattleboro Vermont breeder S R Donaho Jr Floresville Texas recently exported a registered Holstein bull to Bolivia. SRD President Topper 1292 54 is en route to La Paz Bolivia for Servicio Agricola Inter Americano. The Holstein Friesian Association of America notes rising seed stock exports with over 1500 Holsteins transferred abroad last year and 583 exported in the first four months of this year.
Wilson County ASC promotes Soil Stewardship Week for May 11 to May 18 1958 with church participation urged nationwide. The piece highlights the soil’s value for food and peace and urges congregations to attend services and support conservation efforts. It includes a full 1957 ACP report listing 398 producers earning 84840.23 in federal cost shares across practices such as seed grass, pasture seeding, brush control, water wells, waterways and terraces.
Lavernia Texas will host a new very high frequency omni directional radio range as part of the Federal Airways System. CAA Region Two Administrator L C Elliott said surveys are underway and construction will start within ninety days at a site seven miles northwest of Lavernia. The VOR aids pilots to determine if they are on course by signals and Morse identifications, joining more than five hundred such aids nationwide.
Mrs. Philip M. Riley presents her piano pupils in a Spring Recital at Floresville School gymnasium Saturday night May 17 at 7:30. Nineteen pupils perform a varied program of piano music for attendees.
