Texas AgriTech Corridor Initiative to be discussed in Floresville
The Texas Department of Economic Development will unveil a major agribusiness initiative at a Floresville public meeting from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday May 15 at the Wilson County Justice Center. The event invites Austin-Central Texans and area residents to share input on the 67-county Texas Agritech Corridor Partnership aimed at attracting capital and training local workforces for high- tech food and fiber processing and manufacturing within the corridor from Lubbock to San Antonio. The corridor already accounts for about 30 percent of Texas agricultural output, with most production exported for value-added processing. The idea was created to diversify communities hit by defense downsizing and drought.
