Cloudy skies did not deter Floresville Market Day crowds with 37 vendors and visitors flocking to see classic cars and vendor booths. Chamber and economic development leaders praised the teamwork of sponsoring groups and volunteers, vowing to grow the event next year.
Incumbent Gerard Jimenez will be joined by Frank Villarreal and Pete Sanchez on the city council meeting May 17. Sanchez won Place 4 with 599 votes, including 320 early votes, while Donna Garza Honesto had 275. Villarreal led Place 3 with 660 votes to Floriana Ortiz's 222, and Jimenez earned Place 5 with 537 to David Johns 367. Turnout was 22 percent of 4,109 voters. Early voting accounted for 447 votes. Swearing in and canvassing will occur at the May 17 regular council session.
