Poth Ships First Car of 1938 Bermuda Onions
Poth ships the first carload of 1938 Bermuda onions from Wilson County. The car was loaded from onions grown by Florian Kolenda between Floresville and Poth. Kolenda, who has about 17 acres, faced lower yields due to frost and drought. The first car shipped Wednesday from the Kolenda crop to Linkenhager Produce Company of Robstown for cash. Wilson county's onion crop will be short this year due to the prolonged drought and its impact on other crops as well.

Wool Sale Here Last Saturday Brings Farmers $898.54
Floresville farmers pooled 7 558 pounds of wool sold to a San Antonio buyer for 10 to 15 cents per pound. The total payout to about 17 growers reached 898.54 dollars, nearly double the previous year’s prices, with plans to improve future markets. The wool was shipped to Houston, loaded onto a boat, and sent to a Philadelphia firm.

Fire destroys outhouse at Paul Wehmann farm near Floresville
Paul Wehmann, a farmer west of Floresville, saw a brick and wooden outhouse burn at about 11 30 Saturday night. He lost meat, lard, a washing machine, a tub and other items. Neighbors and Floresville fire department helped but the home was saved. Origin of the fire remains unknown.
