Joseph Svoboda Dies Very Suddenly Near Here Tuesday
Joseph Svoboda aged 84 years 4 months 8 days died at his son John Svoboda's home a few miles west of Floresville on Tuesday May 8 1984 at 11 pm. He had been active and died likely of a heart attack. Burial was in Floresville Cemetery yesterday at 10 o clock with the 8 P J 8 S T Lodge in charge. born December 31 1849 in Ticha Moravia he came to America in 1890 with his wife and five children. His first wife died in the old country.

E W Seale was elected Rotary governor at a Saturday meeting in Laredo where the convention concluded and about 200 attendees prepared to depart for Monterrey. The gathering was largely attended and recognized as a successful session.

The 47th District Rotary International meeting in Laredo concluded after drawing 600 Rotarians and wives from 54 Texas cities. Be W. Seale of Kingsville was elected district governor to succeed Walter Jenkins of Houston, with Houston chosen for the 1935 gathering. A side trip to Monterrey involved 200 attendees. Speakers included Paul Brown of Harlingen on Club Service, H R Johnson of Roanoke on Enactments and Resolutions, and John Elliott of Corpus Christi on On to Detroit, followed by Robert Lee Bobbitt of Laredo on Community Service.

At Floresville Independent School District board meeting the entire faculty was re elected for the next term. S J Irwin, formerly science teacher and athletic coach, was promoted to high school principal and coach. Supt S P Conn remains head of the district. The football team advanced to the regional contest last season. Onions Shipped From Poth Reach 160 Carloads
Up to yesterday afternoon 160 carloads of onions had been shipped from Poth per Southern Pacific to Galveston. The Longshoremen strike hampers movement but is expected to settle soon, aiding the onion trade in the region. Floresville shipments, by Roy Campbell of Wise & Wright, are all via the same contact. The Black Hill community has started shipping with 35 cars, handled by Mr. Asherton of Robstown and sent from Coughran on the Missouri Pacific line.
