Floresville Bus To Hear River Engineers In San Antonio

Floresvilleplans a bus of about 40 men to travel to the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio for a 10:00 a.m. hearing before the U S Corps of Engineers. The group departs 8:30 a.m. and returns about 1:00 p.m. Local support is sought for continuing navigation potential of the San Antonio River by the San Antonio River Authority, expected to draw crowds from Bexar Wilson Karnes Goliad and surrounding counties.

Queen Tunaep Names King for Floresville Peanut Festival

Queen Tumnaep of Floresville selects James Leny Ventur as King Reboog for the 19th Floresville Peanut Festival. The coronation occurred September 27, with Ventur crowned to reign alongside festival events. son of Mrs Pete Lyssy and the late Emil Ventur. South Texas elites plan to send representatives to the celebration.

Double winners crown Floresville junior high playground tourney

The District 27 AA playground tournament in Floresville produced a double champion as Goodwin Elementary High School of Canyon New Braunfels won both boys and girls title events. Behertz Cibolo placed second in both divisions while Floresville earned consolation honors. Goodwin beat Schertz Cibolo 44 10 to capture the boys title after earlier defeats of Southwest and Floresville. The girls division saw Goodwin defeat Floresville 19 2 and Consolation honors went to Floresville with strong showings from Southwest. Officials included George Games Bubba Hartman Billy Schuster and others. The event wrapped just after rain cleared.

Wilson County 4 H Teams in District Contest at San Marcos

Fourteen Wilson County 4 H teams with 441 members competed in District 10 4 H elimination contests held Saturday in San Marcos. Named placings include Soil and Water Conservation Demonstration Scott Kirchoff Larry Bludau Path 410, and Favorite Food Show Red ribbon Joan Pavliska Floresville Blue ribbon Yvonne Dauik Sacred Heart 4H. Scott Kirchoff and Larry Bludau will represent Wilson County and District 10 at the state contest in College Station on May 46.

The Path FHA group toured Comal Cotton Mills in New Braunfels marking their first mill visit. They then enjoyed a pleasant afternoon at Landa Park and thanked Mae Kelly for organizing and Anton Scheffler for bus driving.

Public Invited To Mother's Day Program At L A

Floresville and Wilson County residents are invited to view and take part in Mother's Day rites at San Antonio's Grotta Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Rev. Cullen Deckert OMT leads the observance with a solemn Mass of the Immaculate Conception at 9:40 am and an 8 pm Marian procession from the Immaculate Conception Chapel to Mary's Grotto. The morning Mass features Rev Gerry Weber OMT and Rev Robert McGrath OMI. choristers from Mesquite College of the Southwest perform, with Rev Bernard Dawon OMI as organist. Evening procession and Benediction led by Rev Albert Rippes OM. open to all without charge.

Floresville native named president elect of Texas Medical Assn
