Flood levels in Wilson County during late April
Heavy rains in late April disrupted traffic on several farm to market roads in Wilson County but kept primary highways open. The San Antonio River reached about 28 feet above normal, submerging the Roadside Park on State Highway 97. Cibolo Creek rose to about 22 feet, halting FM 775 at La Vernia, FM 537 east of Sunnyside, and FM 541 west of Kosciusko. A flash flood north of Floresville caused Mariana Creek to overflow FM 536 for about three hours on April 28.

A group of peanut growers and shippers from Texas and Oklahoma pressed the Agriculture Department to standardize allowable damage for peanuts. In talks with Speaker Rayburn and several Texas and Oklahoma Democrats, Albert cited proposed limits of three-fourths of a percent for No. 1 Spanish peanuts and 1% percent for runner peanuts, saying runners would gain a trading edge.
