Onions Shipped From Floresville And Jail Escape
Flory and Albert shipped two loads of Crystal Wax onions from Floresville over the past week grown on Geo Boening and Hugo Lange farms and consigned to St. Louis buyers. High School plans an annual banquet May 23 at the White House Cafe with the Class of 1929 as guests, plates priced at 1.10. A bold jail escape in Wilson County ended with all four prisoners recaptured after overpowering Deputy Das Acosta. Deputy Kenneth Powell aided, and Sheriff A B Carnes and County Attorney C Patterson coordinated the manhunt through Floresville and surrounding routes.

Diamond Jubilee Celebrated by Five Thousand at Panna Maria
Five thousand people attended the Diamond Jubilee of the parish in Panna Maria, Karnes County, the oldest Polish settlement in the United States. The day featured an outdoor high mass near the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with Rt. Rev. Paul Rhode and Archbishop-Crossaerts participating, plus visiting priests. A noon barbecue and an afternoon parade followed, and a fuller report will appear next week.

Jail Break Attempt Targets Deputies and Inmates
A jail break attempt occurred on Tuesday with a deputy sheriff knocked unconscious while tending to inmates. A truck driver was reportedly held up during the incident as authorities responded to the disturbance.
Gas main project moves forward in Floresville area
The Southwest Distributing Co., a United Gas Co. subsidiary, received eleven carloads of 16 inch pipe this week as preparations begin for laying gas mains in Floresville and along the county line. An engineering and pipe line crew with equipment is expected to arrive soon to start active operations.

Poth Shipped Forty Two Carloads Of Onions
Up to noon yesterday forty two car loads of onions had been shipped from Poth. The onion fields near the town have created a busy scene for two weeks and favorable weather boosted the crop. Last week set a record as five cars were sent out and although prices were not ideal, farmers remain hopeful as irrigation limits are considered. Malcher and Ehlers shipped most of the crop, about thirty cars, with Malcher and Orts handling four cars.
