Jonas Alvarez Named State Soccer Finalist
Jonas Alvarez, a former FASA player now with Goldrush of NEYSO, is among 18 top players from the San Antonio Austin Corpus Christi area chosen to try out for the Texas State Soccer Team in Houston on May 18 and 19. The process groups players into several rounds including Western and Eastern Districts, with state selection to face other state teams in tournaments. Jonas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Alvarez of Saspamco, expresses gratitude to FASA for the program.

The Wilson County Arts and Crafts League hosts the annual May Arts and Crafts Fair on Friday May 10 1985 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Courthouse square in Floresville. Improvement planned for FM 3444 in Wilson County
The proposed FM 3444 upgrade in Wilson County cleared for detailed plans by the State Department of Highways and Transportation and the Burns firm, extending 81 to FM 1303 as a farm to market route. Additional right of way will be needed, but no homes or businesses will be displaced following a public hearing held December 2, 1985 in Wilson County.

Burglary suspects caught after chase through county
Two burglary suspects were captured by Wilson County deputies after a Guadalupe County resident pursued them across the county line in his pickup. Mary Ferguson and Virgil Harmon of Sutherland Springs were charged with burglary of a habitation and jailed in Guadalupe County. A man named John Streetman pursued the suspects after his radial arm saw disappeared from his porch, colliding with the suspects’ truck and helping lead to their capture near FM 775 and Cibolo Creek. The saw, valued at 550 dollars, was found abandoned along the road. authorities urge return.
