Firefighters battled a blaze that gutted the 3 Qs Restaurant on 181 early Thursday about 1 50 am. The building, closed since January, was reported by Floresville Fire Chief Harvey Elliott as flames shooting from the ceiling. San Antonio Arson Investigators are probing the cause with no official report yet.
Wilson County Democratic Primary totals fell short of expectations with voter apathy. Governor Mark White led with 1765 votes, Lieutenant Governor Bill Hobby 2287, and County Judge decided by 149 votes. Official canvass planned for May 6 following unofficial tallies.
Voters surged in Wilson County on May 3 for the Republican primary with 527 casting ballots for governor causing last minute extra prints for La Vernia Wood Valley Sutherland Springs and Stockdale. A Democratic judge’s race drew conservatives away and reduced GOP totals. The Republican County Convention is May 17 1986 at 2 00 pm in Floresville First City National Bank room. A fund raiser is planned July 11 1986 at the Wilson County Show Barn at 730 pm with state and local Republican speakers.

Floresville police logged a week of break ins from April 28 to May 5. Burglary of two pickups occurred on Tuesday April 29 with batteries stolen in one case and fishing gear loot in another worth about 800 dollars. A Coke machine coin box was taken at a car wash around 1 a.m. Saturday. Eleven batteries were stolen from a Mobil station at 5:30 a.m. Saturday. An unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge involved a 20 year old man. A fleet from the Floresville Area Swim Team was planned for June 6.
Ford Motor Company honored Ken L Barber of Plaza Ford Mercury in Floresville with the 1985 Quality Care Dealer Award. Kenneth P Desselle, Plaza Ford Mercury's Service Manager, earned the 1985 Service Manager Quality Care Award. Floresville sits in Ford Houston District with about 155 Ford dealers. Awards reflect customer surveys on sales and service satisfaction.
The Wilson County 4 H Council and 4 H Adult Leaders Association will reschedule to May 22 from May 15 due to conflicts. A Rabies Clinic runs Saturday May 17 1986 from 2 to 4 PM at Dr George Hill s Animal Home two miles north of Wal Mart in Florest offering shots and worming.
In last week's issues a notice urged voters to participate in the Democratic Primary and inadvertently omitted the Republican Primary notice. The newspaper says the omission was unintentional and notes the Republican Sample Ballot was published with the Democratic Sample.
