The Sam Fore Jr Wilson County Public Library hosted a May art exhibit featuring Evelyn Lowman whose works drew crowd after crowd. The show sold out quickly and will close May 8 at 5 PM due to limited works.
County Judge D. Richard Voges signs and proclaims May 11 18 1969 as Soil Stewardship Week in Texas. Presented with Soil Conservation District directors Anton Kolodziej Hilmuth Stahl JB Ray Harold Jarutowicz and Alex Richter the event emphasizes God given soil resources and the need for conservation. Dr Martin L Cole then scheduled to speak at Poth High School May 23 on The King Idea detailing his education career and presidency at Texas Lutheran College.
An und judged art exhibition titled legal talent will open Saturday May 10 from 10 AM to 7 PM on the lawn beside the United Methodist Church. It features adult, youth, and child artists including Lee Geldmeier Ammiann Brown Cox Compton Dash Frick Hierholzer Johnson Maples Schwartz Strozier Talley Wearden Temple and others. If rain occurs the show will move to the following Saturday.
The Wilson County 4-H Senior Entomology Team won first place at the District 10 Entomology Contest held May 3 at South West Texas State College in San Marcos. Members include Richard Cordes Gregory Cordes Franklin Bayer and John Cordes of Labatt 4-H Club with coach Mrs Oney Cordes. The team advances to the Texas 4-H Roundup on June 3 at Texas A&M University College Station.
Floresville Musical Club schedules its final meeting of the year on May 13 at the Methodist Church basement with Mrs. Pat Swenson presenting Two Weeks in a Hatbox. Also listed are 4-H and senior/junior contest results, honors, and local valedictorian and salutatorian announcements from Falls City and Karnes County.
A minimizing committee has selected a slate of new officers to lead the organization. The vote is scheduled for May 8 with members urged to participate and finalize leadership transitions.
A Stockdale man and his wife died in a Tuesday afternoon crash with a semi truck on U S 87 near Stockdale. A J Treadwell 65 died at Santa Rosa Hospital at 7 15 p m Edna Treadwell 63 died at the scene at 4 45 p m. The tractor trailer driven by Jesus Zamora Luna of San Antonio owned by Alamo Tron Works struck the Treadwell car at the intersection with Business U S 87. Luna escaped injury.
New executive officers for the board of directors in Wilson County include Crone, Roy Nieft Gresham Akin and My Sever as vice president with Crone chosen as president and Wilson Co. Com elected to fill key roles in the organization.
The La Vernia High School band presents its annual Spring Concert on May 15 at 8 p.m. at the school auditorium. The event features performances by the band and related ensembles, showcasing student musicianship.

One of the largest crowds attended a May Fete program last Friday as Floresville Schools presented the annual event at Wiley Seale Auditorium. Praise was heard for the manner of presentation and the pupils’ performance.

A short informal program in the auditorium will begin at 3 30 pm with details on the $190 000 bond election. Patrons of the school district are especially urged to attend.
