Johnston Guilty in Texas Governor Race Forgery Case
Mrs Kate M Johnston a 1926 Texas governor candidate pleaded guilty to forging drafts in Floresville and San Antonio. She received a two year penitentiary sentence for a 125 draft and was also tried on a 700 draft case. Insanity plea noted by judge W O Murray after hospital observation. Cars go to various U S locations. returns from growers have been satisfactory and quality is praised. About 150 carloads expected for the season if weather remains favorable. Junior Day at New Braunfels Delightful Occasion
Floresville juniors from the high school enjoyed a Saturday trip to New Braunfels in May 1981. They arrived at 11 30 for a deli spread of chicken salad and pimento sandwiches then swam and boated. After miniature golf they returned to San Antonio for a Majestic theatre party, accompanied by chaperones Mrs John Ost Spruce Mrs Ed Franklin and Miss Josephine Brown.

Fatal knife killing at Loma Vista farm dance
Antonio Castillo, 23, charged with murdering his brother in law Luis Flores at dawn Sunday on the A D Hoel scher farm in Loma Vista. Flores, about 23, was said to have his throat cut with a razor. Both men were married with one child. Castillo released on $1000 bail after examining trial by Justice Henson.

A Kenedy poultry facility suffered a major fire Monday damaging a cold storage plant and warehouse. Estimated losses range from thirty thousand to forty thousand dollars, with officials reporting the fire destroyed the structure and caused extensive damage to equipment.

A large two story building housing poultry and produce storage in Kenedy was nearly gutted by fire Monday evening. Flames were spotted about 7 o clock, spreading quickly through the second story before discovery. Fire departments fought the blaze for over two hours with no damage to nearby property. Loss is estimated between 30000 and 40000 dollars, partially insured.

Floresville high school star Charles Korbell will compete in the 440 yard dash at the Texas state meet in Austin today. He is finishing his senior year and has posted one of the best records for a Floresville defender of the maroon and white. Korbell previously shined at the Fiesta San Jacinto Meet in San Antonio and will face top Texas high school sprinters in preliminaries.

Floresville Ends Day Passenger Trains After 1885 Start
Floresville loses day passenger service effective midnight March 3 1931 as the San Antonio Kenedy line suspends day trains to towns between San Antonio and Kenedy. Only the early morning and midnight trains remain. last through Floresville may have occurred last Saturday. Local chambers of commerce and railroad officials cited private cars buses and freight growth as reasons for withdrawal. The town celebrated the 1885 arrival of the original line with a notable ceremony led by Mayor S V Houston and other officials.
