All Sports Banquet Honors Floresville Athletes May 7
The 3rd Annual All Sports Banquet for Floresville High School is set for May 7 at 7 30 pm in the Zane Lawdon Gymnas ium. Guest speakers include Melvin Robertson Texas A M Assistant Head Coach and Gary DeLaune of KENS TV. Awards will recognize Most Athletic boy and girl, top offensive and defensive player, and Football Sweetheart along with honoring listed teams. Tickets available at local stores and from Jaycee members.

Soil Stewardship Week Set for May 15-22
Soil Stewardship Week observed nationwide May 15-22 to stress responsibility for soil water and natural resources. Wilson County Soil and Water Conservation District chairman I B Ray announced theme When We Care and noted local churches will receive reference materials prepared by the National Association of Conservation Districts advisory committee. The event marks the 23rd year of NACD sponsorship with thousands of districts participating amid long tradition dating back to Rogation Days in France.

Charlene Albert, 19, won the 1977 Southern Regional baton twirling title held April 23 24 in Houston representing five states. She also claimed the College Division titles in 1 and 2 baton strutting and dance and will teach at camps in TLC Houston and McAllen Texas this summer. Peggy Gorden Floresville resident and contestant in the Heart of the Border event May 6 7 in Carrizo Springs is a twirler and multi sport student leader with UIL band duties and travels statewide for appearances.
